Waiting on God’s timing isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it.
The Unexpected Lesson in Patience
Renewing my driver’s license at the DMV seemed like a simple task—until I had to find time between shuttling kids to school, working my 9-to-5, and managing everything else in life.
Saturday morning was my best shot. With my sons staying home, I loaded my daughters into the car, their laughter filling the crisp morning air as we pulled into the parking lot.
Then, my stomach dropped.

Cars overflowed from every space. The line stretched out the door.
I exhaled deeply. This was going to take a while.
Still, I had come prepared. I grabbed the activity bag I had packed the night before—coloring books, toys, snacks—anything to keep my girls entertained while we faced the ticking clock. Holding their small hands, we navigated the crowded parking lot, stepping into the endless wait.

When the Waiting Feels Too Long
Thirty minutes passed. Then an hour. Two hours.
Each time the digital status board updated, the estimated wait time increased. The DMV workers were doing their best, but patience wasn’t easy.
Mari tugged at my sleeve, her voice small but urgent.
"Mommy, how long is it going to take?"
Kayla sighed, arms crossed, frustration written all over her face.
"Yeah, Mom. This is taking forever. When can we leave?"
I pulled them close, inviting them onto my knees. Their tired bodies rested against mine, exhaustion settling in.
And I saw myself in them.
I saw the same frustration, the same impatience, the same deep longing for answers.

God’s Lesson in the DMV Waiting Room
Gently, I stroked their backs.
"Girls, I know this is taking a long time, but sometimes, important things do," I said softly. "The people working here are doing their best—they want to go home to their families too, just like we do."
They listened but still looked unconvinced. So, I shifted my approach.
"Remember how we bake cookies together?" I asked.
Mari nodded. "Yeah."
"What happens if we take them out too soon?"
Kayla tilted her head. "They don’t come out right. They’ll be mushy in the middle."
"Exactly," I said. "We have to trust the process. Just like baking, growing up, and waiting on God—some things take time. But when we wait, we get the best result. We just have to be patient."
A quiet understanding settled over them. They leaned into the truth, pulled out their coloring books, and a sense of peace filled the space where frustration had lived.
And just like that, the moment arrived. My number was called. Within twenty minutes, we were done. Just like that, the waiting was over.
What God Taught Me Through My Daughters
As the girls played in the car on the ride home, a realization washed over me like a wave.
Their impatience wasn’t so different from my own.
How often had I come before God, pleading for something—more financial stability, a home, a promotion, healing?
How many times had I asked Him,
"Lord, how much longer?"
"God, why is this taking so long?"
"I’ve been waiting for months… years… when will You answer?"
Waiting can feel painful, like an endless stretch of time, like rejection. But God’s silence is never neglect—it’s preparation.
God’s Word Gives Us Strength in the Waiting
Psalms 46:10 reminds us,
"Be still and know that I am God."
When worry rises, He promises in Psalms 23:1,
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."
And when doubt creeps in, Numbers 23:19 declares,
"God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should change His mind."

Encouragement for the Woman Who Is Waiting
You are not forgotten.
You are not overlooked.
Your waiting is not wasted.
Faith isn’t about demanding instant results—it’s about trusting that God is working, even when we can’t see the progress yet.
Philippians 4:19 promises,
"But my God shall supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory."
If He has planted a dream, a vision, a promise in your heart, He will fulfill it—in His way and in His perfect timing.
So, to the mother waiting for breakthrough, waiting for provision, waiting for love, waiting for healing—trust the process.
One day—just like my moment at the DMV—you will look up, and realize the promise has arrived.
